TECHNOLOGY AND STEM
INSPIRING INNOVATION!
At RCA we have a dynamic and cutting-edge technology lab that is designed to inspire innovation and hands-on learning. The room is spacious, with sleek, modern design and lighting elements, featuring a mix of workstations and open spaces for collaboration. Within the lab you’ll find iMacs and several high-end PCs equipped with the latest software for programming and 3D design. These computers are connected to a high-speed gigabit network, ensuring smooth operation for all activities. A large variety of STEM activities are available in the lab.
The atmosphere is buzzing with creativity, as groups of students collaborate on their latest projects, discussing coding, drone flight patterns, or 3D modeling techniques. The wireless technology allows them to seamlessly connect with each other and online resources, from cloud-based platforms to remote control systems for drones and robots.
In the back of the room, there are multiple 3D printers and a large array of filaments of multiple colours and types such as PLA, PLA+, PETG and TPU. These printers are actively printing various prototypes and designs, showing students the magic of turning digital ideas into physical objects.
At the side of the room are impressive models of rockets and some of whose parts have been 3D printed - quietly awaiting launch day. Some may be partially assembled or being prototyped by the teacher. An array of drones are also available for student use to introduce them to flight and aerodynamics. A dedicated corner houses an array of robots, some in various stages of assembly and in action, performing different tasks such as navigating mazes or interacting with their environment.

We have several Sphero robots available in the lab. A Sphero robot is a small programmable round robot that can be controlled with tablets or smartphones. Students can use Sphero to explore coding, robotics, and problem-solving through fun, interactive challenges. Whether racing them through obstacle courses or programming them to perform specific tasks, Sphero robots offer an engaging way to introduce students to the basics of programming and STEM concepts.
The Mbot robot comes in a kit form and allows the students to learn building techniques and team . Once complete they get to explore control methods and eventually program the robot to compete in various competitions such as races, soccer and battle bots.
Overall, this technology lab is a hub of futuristic learning, with students actively engaging with technologies that push the boundaries of innovation.
