PROGRAMS

Early Education

We believe that the seeds of love and learning are planted in our Kindergarten, for that reason we keep our programs small:-

Preschool - 8 spaces offered on both a full time and a part time basis
JK - 18 spaces offered FT only
SK - 18 spaces offered FT only

Our programs offer young students a happy and safe introduction to school life with a well balanced program blending a gentle introduction to academics with a fun-filled day of music, play, crafts, and activities.

Elementary School - Grade 1 to 4

RCA has a unique approach towards education that is focused upon the health, welfare, and academic needs of each individual child.  In our small classes teachers can work one on one with each child to encourage them to love school and to enjoy their educational journey.

Each teacher is committed to providing each child with the opportunity to reach their own personal academic excellence within a safe nurturing environment.   We provide a Biblically-based curriculum that meets or exceeds Ministry guidelines.

Middle School - Grade 5 to 8

Once students reach this level they are introduced to rotary teaching by subject specialists in order to provide students with consistency and a high degree of subject expertise.

There is a a wide array of online programs and resources used giving students the full benefit of multimedia interactive learning mixed in with some traditional values like respect and kindness.

Upper grades are coached on leadership and prepared for their transition to either private Christian or public high schools.   Many field trips take place to give some hands on learning in external environments including an overnight team building trip.  A leadership trip at the end of the year to Florida is also done which is an experience the students will never forget and will give them skills for their future endeavors.

French

RCA has an innovative daily French program that commences in our Pre-JK program and continues on up throughout the school.  The language focus at RCA is to ensure that students are strong in English language and literature with French as a second language in which they feel comfortable speaking and are nascent readers.

Using a combination of Christ centred text books, French computer programs and a variety of mixed-media, the RCA French teacher works to teach each student to speak using the correct pronunciation and to write grammatically correct French.
STEM

In recognition of the important role of Science in the 21st Century RCA has developed a unique Science program with a Christian worldview that challenges and stimulates the students to think about our world from a scientific point of view.  Students are taught how to do experiments, Laboratory Reports, and Research Reports to prepare them for their transition into Grade 9.

At RCA students are given both the foundational building blocks of knowledge PLUS the ability to use technology appropriately.  They are taught how to use the internet for research and education but they are also warned against and prepared for their potential future exposure to the more negative aspects of the internet and social media.

Music and Arts

RCA has a dynamic Music & Art program that is offered to all students.  We rotate an annual History Fair, Art Fair, and Music Fair encouraging all students to get involved, try new mediums, and enjoy the experience.

Other regular features include worship team for chapel, musicals and theatre production, weekly music instruction and lessons, formal art instruction and classes, field trips to museums, etc.

Note: Due to COVID-19 protocol some activities may be affected.

Athletics

RCA is dedicated to providing all students with multiple opportunities to try a full range of individual and team sports in order to encourage life time enjoyment of and participation in physical activity.  RCA has a full sized gymnasium and over the course of the year students participate in a wide range of sports including, badminton, basketball, volleyball, soccer, indoor hockey, track and field and cross country running.

As members of the Christian Athletic Association of Southern Ontario (CAASO) students are given the opportunity to participate in the CAASO sponsored sports events throughout each school year.  RCA also participates with other Christian school groups at other tournaments and meets in Ontario.

Community

RCA believes that even though we are a small school, if we all work together we CAN make a difference!  We work with the students throughout the year to teach them the importance of giving and volunteering within the Community.  We believe that our Community includes the RCA Community, Guelph and the surrounding area and extends out to all nations.

During their time at RCA all students are given the opportunity to find one or many charities that personally motivate them to want to give of their time, effort, and/or financial support. This is an intrinsic part of the RCA motto and is one way in which we teach the students to live out their faith daily.

Leadership & Missions Training

The culmination of the RCA grade 8 program is their trip to Florida in June to attend a leadership training program at the Student Leadership UniversitySLU is hailed by parents, youth ministers, teachers, and students as the nation's premiere leadership training program with a distinctively Christian worldview for students in eighth grade through college.

The development of young leaders must be intentional and influential, over four days the student experience 22 hours of hands-on training on what it means to be a balanced leader in an upside-down world.
